Iranian lawmakers say execution of Saudi Arabia’s top Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr was an inhumane act.

A statement issued by Iran’s parliament on the anniversary of the execution of al-Nimrsaid it was an inhumane act that runs counter to international regulations.

The statement has called on international human rights group to abide by their duties in the face of Riyadh’s rights abuses and violations.

Iranian parliamentarian in their statement has demanded that rights organization must stop their double standards in regard to the Saudi regime’s atrocities.

Execution of Sheikh Nimr on January 2, 2016, came in defiance of international calls to release the cleric. The execution drew condemnations and angry protests in many countries.

The statement also stressed that Riyadh’s regime by supporting terrorists in the region, attacking its neighbor Yemen and suppressing anti-regime protests in Bahrain has attempted to sow discord among Muslim nations.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic in his speeches and historic messages frequently exposed that how Saudi regime was playing into hands of colonial powers and ruling House of Saud was committing crimes against Muslim Ummah.
