Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, had allowed permission for believers and faithful people to spend some of their religious dues for the assistance of people which were affected by an earthquake.

Imam Khomeini once through a hisroric message and decree permitted that religious dues can be spent for the welfare of quake victims or repair of those areas which were affected by quake or other natural disasters

This comes as a recent powerful earthquake caused extensive damage and loss of life in western Iran.

According to the latest official figures, some 432 people have lost their lives and about 9,388 others sustained injuries in the tremor. Some 12,000 homes have also been completely destroyed in the incident.
