Iran remains at forefront of fighting terrorism

In late September, more than two dozen people were killed and 60 others injured in the terrorist attack on a military parade in Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province.

The al-Ahwaziya terror group, whose recruits are believed to be scattered in several European countries, including in the Netherlands and Denmark, claimed responsibility for the attack.

The terror outfit, which is backed by Saudi Arabia, has a record of carrying out acts of sabotage in Iran’s Khuzestan Province, which encompasses Ahvaz and some other dominantly Arab cities. The Daesh Takfiri terrorist group alsso claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said on Saturday the terrorist attack in Ahvaz was the continuation of plots hatched by US stooges in the region to create insecurity in the country, adding that Iran’s intelligence services must swiftly find the accomplices of the "criminals” behind the attack and put them on trial.

The Leader said the "tragic and sorrowful" incident in Ahvaz and the killing of people by mercenary terrorists once again exposed the cruelty of the enemies of the Iranian nation.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also said that the Islamic Republic would give a "crushing" response to the slightest threat against the country.

In a statement on Sunay, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps(IRGC) said the terrorists behind the bloody attack in Ahvaz will definitely face "deadly and unforgettable" revenge in the near future.

In early October , the top Iranian general says the IRGC’s Monday missile and drone attacks on terrorists’ positions in Syria were just the first stage of Tehran’s retaliation against those who sponsored and orchestrated a recent raid on a military parade in Iran’s Ahvaz, which killed 25 and wounded dozens more.

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri made the remarks on Monday, hours after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said it had targeted terrorist positions to the east of the river Euphrates, near Albu Kamal town on Syria’s eastern border with Iraq.

General Baqeri also vowed that “there will be other stages of revenge as well.”

He further noted that the missiles and drones flew long distances before hitting the terrorists’ hideouts in Syria. “Several high-profile terrorists were killed during the attacks,” he added.

“It [the attack] showed the security of Iranian people is a red line for the Leader, the Armed Forces, and the country’s ruling system,” Baqeri noted, vowing that such attack would not happen again thanks to the measures adopted after the recent attacks.

Earlier, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Division of also said the nation's security is a red line. Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh added, Iran will not take a step back in the face of threats against its security.
