Akhoond Abduljalil Farahmand, senior Sunni cleric from Golestan Province, noted that Islamic unity threatens interests and ruling of the oppressors defining unity as commitment of each denomination to its ideologies while supporting commonalities with other schools of thought, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
He stressed importance of admitting the diversity of denominations in a society before maintaining respect for their rights and said;” To believe in Islamic solidarity means pursuit of commonalities with other denominations.”
Akhoond Abduljalil Farahmand highlighted necessity of returning to Islamic civilization and said,” We will promote only when we revive our new Islamic civilization which is the civilization of original Islam brought by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).”
Prominent Iranian Sunni scholar lauded the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini for initiation to name the week concurrent with birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as the Islamic Unity Week noting that the late leader made the move in line with bringing Islamic denominations closer together.
