Memoirs by a doctor about Imam Khomeini's inattention to the appearances of the world

One of the physicians who used to visit Imam's residence said that simplicity and unpretentiousness had prevailed throughout Imam’s life.

The outer and inner rooms of the Imam's house were the same and inexpensive carpet was spread across the rooms.

Curtains, chairs, glasses, tables in the room, tea cups, food containers, etc. also followed this rule.

In this simplicity lay a soothing beauty that calmed man. That long white shirt, plain white sweatshirt and cheap cotton socks, etc., all showed Imam's sheer disregard for worldly appearances.
