One of the historic message delivered on the first anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, citing verses from the Muslim holy book of Quran and the bible stressed the significance of justice among the divine religions. Imam Khomeini, after rendering congratulatory message to the world Christians on the Jesus Christ birthday, invited them to defend oppressors and confront aggressors. Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic once said in a historic message that Christian leaders including the pope and priests should ring the bells of churches in the defense and interest of the oppressed people of the world.

Imam Khomeini himself on several occasion emerged as savior to relieve humanity from the slavery of colonial powers in contemporary era at the sensitive juncture of history. Millions of Iranians from the four corners of the country enthusiastically waited to make history following the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. 

More than 40 years have passed since the dawn of Islamic revolution, The first day of February 1979, millions of People got together to welcome Imam Khomeini's return from Paris. After fourteen years in exile, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi's departure, made people more eager for Imam Khomeini's return to Iranian soil. It was a cold winter and various threats were made by then prime minister, Shahpour Bakhiar, but people neither felt the coldness of the weather nor were they afraid of threats. Imam entered Iran. He left the Airport for Behesht-e Zahra cemetery to pay respect to those who sacrificed their lives to make this day happen. In a historical speech, Imam stated that he would appoint a state with the nation's support and would act against the government of that time.

In an other instance, more than 10 million people from across the country and devotees from several other parts of the world attended Imam Khomeini’s funeral to form one of the largest ever funerals in the world.

A large number of foreign dignitaries, intellectuals and academic personalities were in attendance at the funeral, which is considered the largest. 

 Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989.

 Many Iranians mourned Imam Khomeini's death and poured out into the cities and streets.
