Leader to deliver speech on 32nd passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei will deliver a televised speech on the 32nd passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini.

The speech will come on the 32nd anniversary of Imam Khomeini , the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Starting at 2 PM local time, it will be broadcast live on IRIB TV channels and on Khamenei.ir website.

In previous years, the Leader addressed ceremonies marking the passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini at the mausoleum of the Islamic Republic’s founder.

This year, however, the speech will be televised due to the coronavirus restrictions.

Ayatollah Ruhollah Moussavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, engineered Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, which led to the overthrow of the US-backed Shah of Iran.

Born in 1902, he grew to become the iconic leader of the Iranian nation’s struggle in the 1970s against the centuries-old monarchical tyranny.

Imam Khomeini passed away on June 3, 1989, at the age of 87. 

In last year speech on Imam's anniversary, the  leader of Islamic Revolution Imam Ayatollah Seyyed Ali once said Khamenei [Khomeini] was a person who advocated and brought about transformation. As for bringing about transformation, his role was not confined to being a mere teacher and instructor, rather he played the role of a commander active on the field and leading in the true sense of the word. 

In his speech on the 31st anniversary of the passing of Imam Khomeini on the 3rd of June, Ayatollah Khamenei spoke about the transformations which Imam Khomeini brought about in Iran and the Iranian nation. T

By nature, Imam [Khomeini] was a person who advocated and brought about transformation. As for bringing about transformation, his role was not confined to being a mere teacher and instructor, rather he played the role of a commander active on the field and leading in the true sense of the word, the leader stressed.
