It has been reported through a series of memoirs that Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini used to love playing football from very young age. He was a famous football player at his school team in the Iranian city of Qom at that time.
Imam never prevented him from playing soccer or doing other exercise.
Imam himself used to love walk and doing light exercises despite his all activities and busy schedule at seminaries.
Even after becoming the leader of the Islam revolution, Imam used to encourage promoting sports and on several occasions the athletes managed meetings with him.
Following the victory of Islamic revolution, Iranians gained numerous medals at international Olympics and world cups over the past decades.
