Imam Promoted True Understanding of Islam

Imam Khomeini the religious and spiritual leader of the Muslim world introduced the true understanding of the Islamic teachings and his ideas inspired the recent Islamic awakening across the Middle East, North Africa and several other regions of the world.

The remarks were made by several Iranian and international academics and scholars who attended a summit at Carleton University located in the capital of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario last year.

The conference commenced by the recitation of the Holy Quran and by a short speech from the head of the Cultural Center of Iran, Hamid Mohammadi.  Mohammadi said that the founder of the Islamic Republic’s main goal was to provide the correct understanding of Islam.

Sheikh Hasani, the head of the Iranian mission to Canada said that the great leader had raised awareness among nations in various arenas.

“His (Imam Khomeini) main change was to help the awakening… we can see awakening in different parts of the world whether it was economic, political or social,” said Sheikh Hasani.

Professor Richardson spoke about Imam Khomeini’s principle – equality between all human beings. “Imam Khomeini understood the necessity of revolution toward God.”

The professor is a Christian scholar who specializes in religious philosophy and is the co-founder of two international research groups.

He also said that the great Imam was promoter and champion of unity among all divine religions.

Richardson highlighted the importance of unity between the three Abrahamic religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

Sayyid Muhammad Rizvi, a prominent cleric in Toronto said that the great Imam confirmed that Islam was not only about praying and fasting but “…a code of life to guide all aspects of society.”

The scholars and academic figures conluded that recent Islamic awakening and revolutions were inspired by the Imam‘s dynamic thought and guiding guidelines. Several analysts believe that Imam thought promote a moderate approach to religion and can create peace and unity among societies and relieve oppressed nations form clutches of the imperialism.
