Imam never used religious finances even to pay pilgrimage

Imam never used religious finances even to pay pilgrimage

A memoirs by Imam’s family members

It has been narrated that during the period of Imam Khomeini's exile in the holy city of Najaf, once on a Friday afternoon, Imam was sitting with his family members in a room.

The family asked Imam that whether he wished to go these holy cities to perform the pilgrimage?

At this Imam replied that he had no money to provide for himself travel arrangements.

Imam’s wife joked that we would tomorrow collect some money so that he could go on a pilgrimage.

The Imam said, "Mrs., there is a bucket of money in the crypt, but it is not mine."
