An interview with Mrs. Zeenathul Munawwara Abdul Jabbar from Sri Lanka

How did you come to know about the personality of Imam Khomeini?

I knew Imam Khomeini from my school time when Iranian embassy invited us to attend a ceremony and there, they talked about Imam Khomeini and his great personality. From that time I admire the Imam a lot because he rebuilt the country and that’s why people love him so much.

When Imam passed away, many people attended his funeral as it was the most crowded funeral in the world. He was a very good leader and we cannot find like him at our time.

What is your opinion on the Islamic revolution led by the Imam?

Iranian Islamic revolution can be a model for the republic of Sri Lanka. At that time both we and the Iranian people had a dictatorial political government system.  But now we can see freedom in Iran with the nation, which is standing on its own feet. And I think this blessing is an achievements of Islamic revolution.

Do you think Islamic Revolution could be successful without Imam's leadership?

I can't even imagine that, because he founded the revolution and people followed him. Now people should not be afraid of anything, they must be sure that if they follow the footprints of the Imam they will certainly be successful.

In your idea what is the influence of Islamic revolution on the Islamic Awakening?

When we compare Iran with other Muslim countries we see that their education and technology are far behind of Iran, even though they have sufficient money. Iran is much stronger and powerful than many of other countries in the region. That means Islamic revolution brought Iranian people strength and power. Therefore, we can say that Iran as the leading country promoted Islamic Awakening in the region.
