An Interview with Moghdon Ismail, a Quazi court from Sri Lanka

If all Muslim scholars are united, Islam also will be preserved. The lack of unity, which I think prevails among the Muslim groups, diminishes the power of Islam.

  • How did you become familiar with the personality Imam Khomeini?

During the revolution we were frequently informed about the Imam by the media. We were very proud of him, because he was a great leader both in Iran and in the entire Muslim world. Iran is a vast country, but Imam was also a powerful leader.

  • Do you believe that Islamic awakening and the current regional developments are inspired by Imam's thought?

Definitely, all current Islamic movements are inspired by the thought and practical teachings of Imam Khomeini. Islamic republic of Iran after the victory of Islamic revolution led by the Imam has become a powerful country in the Middle East region. It is now a leading country for many of the political government systems. Iran, therefore, is the promoter and founder of Islamic awakening from this perspective.

  • What is the role of religious scholars in the Islamic awakening and preserving its ideals?

If all Muslim scholars are united, Islam also will be preserved. The lack of unity, which I think prevails among the Muslim groups, diminishes the power of Islam.

  • What is the relationship between Islamic revolution and Islamic awakening?

One thing is that the Islamic revolution belongs to Iran. But in practice, it was exported to many of the world countries. The Islamic awakening we observe in the region is actually a manifestation of the Iranian Islamic revolution. It is now expanding into the whole world.

I wish Imam were alive now and we could follow again his instructions about the current issues and be under his leadership.
