Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini made remarks at a lecture which was delivered at the holy mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic and later at a press briefing while highlighting the significance of the presidential elections and massive participation.
The reputed scholar further said whenever some felt that he had distanced from public masses, such a person must know that he would have gone away from Islamic Republic's and the revolution's values. Seyyed Hassan Khomeini noted that everyone should be sensitive to their fate and really take these elections seriously.
He said that elections are one of the great maneuver, exercise and manifestations of democracy and choosing a president with high votes is very important to solve the country's problems facing the country on domestic and international level.
The scholar hoped that the 14th government which would be result of this vote should serve the people.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said that the individuals with knowledge of politics know very well that a strong government which is a result of massive participation of people at vote would be able to address all domestic economic and international challenges facing the nation. Such an administration can remove all hurdles as well, he added.
The voting time in Iran's presidential election has received a second extension amid the high turnout of Iranians across the country.
Polls for the 14th presidential election opened at 8 a.m. local time (0430 GMT) on Friday.
Mohsen Eslami, the spokesperson for Iran's election headquarters, announced that the voting hours have been extended for two more hours.
Given the requests for another extension of the voting time and upon the approval of Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi, the time has been extended for two more hours, until 10:00 p.m. (1830 GMT), across the country, Eslami said.
Earlier, the spokesperson had announced that the time had been extended for two hours until 8:00 p.m.
The Interior Ministry had earlier said that the time may be extended if necessary.
