Meeting with Imam Khomeini was the best event in my life: American Muslim Convert

Leyla Vaqarfard, American Muslim convert, said after embracing Islam, the best event in her life was meeting with the Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (s).

Leyla Vaqarfard, formerly Teresa Kim Kranfil, made the remark in a session held Thursday, July 11, at the Rahyaftegan (those who found the true path) Section of the International Holy Quran Exhibition.

The American Muslim said she was born into a Christain family and had questions in mind since teenage years about the purpose of life and why should one worship God.

Mrs. Vaqarfard said she met with an Iranian young man at university and was attracted to his Islamic conduct. The man, who would later become her husband, told her about Islam and familiarized her with the Quran.

“When I learned about the Quran, I realized that I have found what had been missing in my life and then embraced Islam.” She added.

Mrs. Vaqarfard also said her family and friends had no problems with her conversion and even supported her decision.

About her meeting with Imam Khomeini (s), she mentioned it was at the time when the Imam resided in the holy city of Qom right after the victory of the revolution.

She went onto say that Islam is a religion of intellectuality and logic and that she embraced the religion after reading the Quran and studying about Islam’s teachings and principles.
