What was the reaction of the people of Noufal-Lochateau to the news of Imam's return to Iran?

A memory of the late Sadegh Tabatabaei, one of the relatives and companions of Imam Khomeini (PBUH), in Noufal-Lechateau

The news reached the ears of Imam's neighbors in Noufal-Lochateau by word of mouth. Although the comings and goings had disturbed the peace and quiet of their village, they were saddened by Imam's departure and the news was unpleasant for them.

Although the people of Noufal-Lochateau had been suffering for about four months during this period and unusual conditions had been created in this small village, including crowding, noise, excitement, and the presence of security forces and police, no protests were observed during Imam's stay in this village.

When it was announced that Imam would soon leave Noufal-Lochateau, the people of this place expressed their interest in saying goodbye to him, and a long line was formed in the area in front of the garden and Imam's resting place. The enthusiasm of the people to meet Imam was truly interesting. At first, one or two people who were well-known local figures arrived separately to meet Imam. One of them was a priest whom the Imam called the local cleric! He said: "These days will be recorded in the history of the world. Your presence has given this village a historical place and a spirituality to us." The Imam apologized in response and said that during the time we were here, we caused you trouble, there was a lot of traffic and noise, and you were deprived of security and comfort.
