International Academic Preliminary Session

The General Department of Women’s Affairs is pleased to announce the Third Preliminary Session of the International Conference on the Transformation of Women’s Roles and Status in Light of the Thought of Imam Khomeini, an international academic gathering dedicated to exploring women’s evolving roles and status amid contemporary global transformations.
Adopting an interdisciplinary and comparative approach, the session will examine the intellectual, social, cultural, and political dimensions of contemporary perspectives on women. It will also explore the relationship between these perspectives, the thought of Imam Khomeini (RA), and the discourse emerging from the Islamic Revolution. Bringing together international scholars, researchers, and experts, the session aims to foster scholarly dialogue, encourage cross-cultural exchange, and offer new perspectives on women’s roles and status in today’s changing world.

Dr. Muhammad Legenhausen
American Muslim philosopher; faculty member at the Imam Khomeini (RA) Educational and Research Institute; and Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Ethics at the University of Religions and Denominations, Qom, Iran.
Dr. Masoumeh Jafari
Professor and administrator at Jamiat-uz-Zahra (SA) in Skardu, Baltistan, Pakistan; researcher and religious educator.
Dr. Stovia Naliubita Abrado (Romania)
Dentist, researcher, and activist specializing in issues concerning Muslim women.
Dr. Sadegh Haghighat — Session Chair
Iranian university professor, author, and theorist specializing in Islamic political thought.
Dr. Taras Chernenko (Russia)
Economist and translator of the Quran and Nahj al-Balagha into Russian; recognized as the first Shia professor at the University of Prague.
Dr. Zahereh Jafari (Lebanon)
PhD in Women’s Studies; researcher in comparative family studies, translator, and international religious advocate; faculty member of the Department of Women and Family Studies at Inqilab University.
