Sayyid Hassan, who labeled Sheikh Hashimiyaan a loyal friend of Imam Khomeini, received a very warm and exceptional reception when he entered the mosque. There were so many people and the crowds were so large that Sayyid Hassan could not enter the mosque for quite a while. People read out many slogans, which expressed their emotions and admiration for Sayyid Hassan Khomeini.
When Sayyid Hassan did finally manage to enter the mosque the speaker was cut off by the people calling out praises for Sayyid Hassan, such as “Peace and blessing be on Muhammad (saw), Khomeini’s scent has arrived”. The speaker invited Sayyid Hassan to come to the stand and speak a few words to the people. Sayyid Hassan thanked the people for the difficulties they endured and sacrifices they made during the revolution and the war. He also thanked the people for their love for Imam Khomeini and the warm reception they had offered him. He then prayed that God forgive all the sins of Sheikh Hashimiyaan. After Sayyid Hassan finished, people continued to chant praising comments.
This ceremony was also attended by Ayatollah Mousavi Bojnordi, Mohsin Hashimi Rafsanjani, the Imam of the Friday congregational prayers in Rafsanjan, the governor of Kerman, and the local heads and people of Kerman and Rafsanjan.
A few verses of the Qur’an and a mourning recital were recited. In addition the issued statements of condolences of Ayatollah Khamenei who is the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Hashimi Rafsanjani who is the head of the Expediency Council and Hujjat al-Islam wa al-Muslimeen Sayyid Hassan Khomeini, were read out.
