Question: Quran has emphasized on the significance of the holy month of Ramadan. Please explain and give your views in this regard.
Answer: The holy month of Ramadan is of great virtues and significance as Quran has said: “The Ramadan is the month in which the holy Quran was revealed.” (The Holy Quran, 2:185) The Quran which is the most precious gift from God the Almighty to the humanity was revealed during this holy month.
Another phenomenon of this month is the holy night of power or decrees. The Quran has insisted that “The night of decree is better than a thousand of months.” (The Holy Quran, 97:3)
The holy prophet Hadrat Mohammad (s.a.) had said during one of his sermons that the God the Almighty itself is the host and the people who observe fasts during this holy month are the guest of God.
Therefore, this month is of great significance and dignity as God has opened the doors of mercy towards its people. And it is a good opportunity for human beings to express their remorse, repentance and humbleness in front of God. We can easily jump to this conclusion that the holy month of Ramadan is a source of goodness and abundance for the humanity.
