Institute Holds an International Congress on Human Rights

The Research Department of the Institute holds an International Congress to answer the queries on the efficiency and productivity of a religious system to provide individuals and the society with civil rights and social freedoms.

The congress titled “Human Rights and Religious State in Imam Khomeini's Thought” will be held in 2015 in the capital city of Tehran.

The idea of holding such an International Congress emerged as a great need is being felt for elucidating the queries and questions that to what extent an Islamic-democratic system is able to provide individuals with different social rights and freedoms.

Researches and participants of the congress discuss and debate the significance of the preserving rights of people in a religious system while elucidating Imam Khomeini's thought and ideas in this regard.

International experts believe that the deep thought of great Imam still continues to guide the world leaders to take step toward creating prosperity of their nations and societies.

Respecting rights of people is one of the basic concerns in modern human communities. Protecting Human rights has been also given much priority and significance in religious oriented governments. A critical question however is that to what extent a religious system is able to provide its people of different strata with civil rights and social freedoms.

The queries and doubts are too much in this regard. But the truth is that, Islam as a monotheistic and Abrahamic religion has emerged as supporter of social and political freedoms while inviting people towards divine teachings. Many Islamic notions and traditions emphasize the need for preserving and holding rights of people in any political system.

Imam Khomeini, the great founder of Islamic republic, devoted considerable efforts to fulfill the civil rights of the Iranian nation during his ten-year leadership after the victory of Islamic Revolution in 1979.

But the country faced with many challenges in theory and practice to accomplish this mission. With growth of pupation and development of technology especially in contemporary era a great need is being felt for total realization of the civil rights as well as presentation of new practical theories on behalf of the experts, thinkers and intellectuals in various fields such as social and Islamic sciences.

For this purpose, the following subjects and motives will be discussed in the congress to elucidate Imam Khomeini's thought and ideas with regard to preserving Human Rights in a religious-democratic system:
