Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini said that one of significant characteristics of Imam’s academic legacy has been establishing and promoting very peaceful connection between religion and rationality.
The grandson of the founding leader made remarks among a gathering of newly-elected lawmakers who held a meeting with him at holy mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, which is located on the southern suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Seyyed Hassan Khomeini stressed that what Imam expects us today is to enhance the functions and usefulness of the Islamic-democratic system.
Pointing to problems which are hindering progress, he said that denying the existence of hurdles in the society will not cure anything. The internationally-reputed scholar also encouraged the parliamentarians to devise mechanism and undertake efforts to solve all difficulties, and handle tough situations.
Earlier on Saturday, Iran inaugurated its Tenth Majlis (Parliament) in the capital Tehran. A symbolic Presiding Board, composed of its most senior members, presided the Today’s session.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also joined today’s ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by senior government and military officials, and was covered by mass media coverage.
