Mumbai holds international summit on Imam Khomeini

An international summit highlighting thought and ideals of late founder of the Islamic Republic has been held in the Indian port city of Mumbai.

The summit under the title of “Imam Khomeini’s universal ideals and their significance” in India’s largest city was attended by sunni and Shia scholars and prominent personalities from Iran, India and some other countries.

The academic gathering came on the occasion of 27th passing away anniversary of Imam Khomeini, who passed away on June 03, 1989 after reviving divine and spiritual values and restoring dignity to oppressed nations at sensitive juncture of history

Addressing the gathering as a chief guest, Hojjat al-Islam Qazi Asgar, a prominent Iranian Muslim scholar, and representative of the Supreme Leader in Hajj affairs said that simple life-style adopted by Imam through his lifetime continues to attract a large number of people across the globe.

It is worth to mention that Imam Khomeini opted to live in a very simple house in the Iranian capital, Tehran even after becoming the founding leader of the Islamic Republic in 1979.

The prominent speaker also touched upon Imam’s command over various disciplines of knowledge including philosophy, mysticism, jurisprudence, Quranic and Hadith sciences. He also underscored Imam’s ideals which promoted unity among all Muslim sects and followers of all divine religions.

Several other speakers and intellectuals at the gathering highlighted late Imam’s devotion towards God Almighty, and his deep love for the developing and oppressed nations.
