The president made remarks while speaking to the people of Khomein, Imam Khomeini's birthplace in Markazi province, Mehr news agency reported.
"Imam Khomeini opened the path to progress for Islamic civilization and all our greetings to the dear great soul of his who had clearly shown us the true Islam and democracy," Rouhani told the welcoming crowd.
"Thanks to the ideas and thoughts of Imam Khomeini, the Islamic Republic is known as a role model around the world."
“Imam Khomeini promoted Islamic brand of the arts including music and singing; he also fostered unity of the Seminary schools and universities,” the president stressed.
“Imam Khomeini granted right to vote for Iranian women for their own political life and to study at universities like men; under the Islamic Sharia, he revived the dignity of women.”
“He taught us how to keep our national self-confidence, stand against the superpowers of East and West, and win.”
It is worthy to mention that the victory of Islamic revolution under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini put Iran on the track of progress, changed balance of power in the interest of Muslim countries and defended the rights of the oppressed nations across the globe.
