Iran to help Iraq establish stability

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says the Islamic Republic will help Iraq establish stability and security.

Zarif made remarks in a meeting with Head of the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) Ammar al-Hakim in Tehran.

The top Iranian diplomat noted that Tehran will spare no efforts to help the Iraqi people and government restore security and stability in the war-ravaged country.

“All Iraqi ethnicities, tribes and groups must also take steps in this path,” said the Iranian foreign minister, adding, “There is the possibility of cooperation among all groups inside the Iraqi territory and it is crucial that certain regional countries do not transfer their problems onto Iraq.”

Zarif also stressed that the stellar ties between Iran and Iraq must serve as a model for other countries in the region.

The Iranian foreign minister also hailed the very valuable political and military achievements by the Iraqi government, nation and groups.

He went onto say that INA's bid for national reconciliation in Iraq is admirable and very important for the country’s political future.

Hakim, for his part, briefed the Iranian foreign minister on the latest political and military developments in Iraq.

Hakim also hailed Iran’s support for his country’s government and nation in the fight against terrorism.

Hakim serves as the head of the INA, which is comprised of Shia political parties. The alliance holds the majority of seats in the Iraqi parliament.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic through his historic messages and speeches frequently denounced crimes being committed by the then dictatorial Saddam regime against Iraqi people.

Iran established cordial relations with Iraq after the downfall of Saddam regime in 2003.
