Late Ayatollah Tawasuli, one of Imam Khomeini’s companions once said through memoirs that “on one of Ramadan's nights, I had to cross in front of Imam’s room in the middle of the night for some necessary task”.
“As I crossed, I realized that the Imam was busy in saying prayers and reciting supplications and was shedding tears for sake of God, the Almighty”.
Ayatollah Tawasuli concluded by saying that Imam’s voice and divine spirit had filled the entire atmosphere with fragrance of spirituality and impressed me much.
Friends and relatives say that Imam had been a true example of the following Quranic verse:
And when they hear what has been revealed to this Messenger, thou seest their eyes overflow with tears, because of the truth which they have recognized. They say, ‘Our Lord, we believe, so write us down among the witnesses’. [5:84]
