Imam Khomeini supported freedom-seeking movements in all Islamic countries

A member of the Iraqi parliament has said that Imam Khomeini is considered as a turning point in the Islamic world following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Abbas Al-Sayed Sorout, a member of the National Wisdom Movement faction, said in an exclusive interview with IRNA on Friday, “Imam Khomeini is effective and great character throughout the world, and I believe that over the long history of Islam till the contemporary era, He is considered as a turning point in the Islamic world following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.”

Pointing to the spread of deviations and superstitions in Muslim countries, Sorout noted that before the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic world was marred with different deviations and superstitions, but the founding father of the Islamic Revolution helped remove such problems from the holy religion of Islam.

The Iraqi legislator went on to say that the former Iranian regime distanced itself from the Islamic world because of its leaning towards the Western powers; however, Imam Khomeini could change all of these mentioned issues.

The late Imam endorsed paying attention to Islamic beliefs and supporting freedom-seeking movements in all Islamic countries, he added.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s support for the fight of the Palestinian people to liberate their homeland is one of examples that the country backed oppressed nations, the lawmaker said.

Another advantage of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was that the Islamic thinking has been promoted in the Western societies; so, the Islamic world is indebted to Imam Khomeini, Sorout stipulated.

Therefore, the Western camp led by the United States is very concerned about the spread of Imam Khomeini’s thought throughout the globe, he underlined.
