Imam’s special devotion for Najaf and Karbala during exile in Iraq

It has been reported through a series of memoirs that Imam never give up visiting Imam Ali’s holy shrine even for a single day  during Imam’s stay in the holy Iraqi city of Najaf.

He used to spend at least three hours at the shrine after sunset and recited Ziarat-e-Jam’eh Kabireh and supplications.

Imam Khomeini also frequently visited the holy shrine of doyen of martyr Imam Hossein (‘a) and especially spent first 10 days of holy month of Muhrram in Karabala.

Imam had great devotion for the family members of the holy prophet of Islam and frequently said that Islamic Revolution in Iran had been inspired by the movement of Ashura.
