Zil-Hajj 9th, is the day of Arafeh. The famous supplication of Imam Hussein is recommended to be recited (in the afternoon). Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) has recited this supplication before leaving Mecca to Karbala on the Zil-Hajj 9th of 60 Hijri. The day of Arafeh is one of the most sacred days of the Islamic Calendar. On this day Allah invites his devotees towards his worship and obedience, and spreads his bounties and blessings. Imam Khomeini used to highlight importance of the Day of Arafah and advised the believers to grab all its spiritual benefits to accomplish prosperity in this world and the salvation for the hereafte. The great Imam used to frequently underscore deep spiritual relations between the Day of Arafeh and the tragic event of Ashura. Imam interpreted such events on the Islamic calendar as signs of God and called it as an opportunity for correction and improvement of worldly and spiritual affairs.
