Imam Khomeini Warned against Treaty between Egypt and Israel

Imam Khomeini the leader of the Muslim world and great figure of the contemporary history warned against consequences of the treaty between Israel and Egypt.

The great Imam warned against the dangers of Israeli aggression in the region and how it was about to damage the rights of Palestinian and other Muslim  nations in the strategic region of the Middle-East.

The so-called peace treaty known as  Camp David Accords was signed by Egyptian President Anwar El Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin on 17 September 1978, following thirteen days of secret negotiations at Camp David.

These accords constituted the greatest act of betrayal to be carried out in the wake of the bloody and heavy battles
between the Arabs and Israel and the first step toward compromise.

Among the Arab states, the Steadfastness and confrontation Front was set up against this peace accord,
including Algeria, the PLO, Syria, Libya, and South Yemen.

Imam’s historic message in this regard comes as following:

Date: March 25, 1979 [Farvardin 5, 1358 AHS / Rabi ath-Thani 26, 1399 AH]

Place: Qum

Subject: Peace between Egypt and Israel (Camp David Accord)

Addressees: Muslims of the world

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

For over 15 years, I have mentioned the danger of Israel’s usurping
government and have declared this fact to the Arab governments and nations:
Now with the colonial plot of making peace between Egypt and Israel, the
danger has grown greater, closer and more serious. Anwar Sadat, by having
accepted this peace, has made his affiliation to the US imperialist
government more obvious. One cannot expect more than this from a
colleague of the former Shah. Iran considers itself attuned with its Arab
brothers in Arabic countries, and regards itself a partner to their decisions.
Iran regards the peace made by Israel and Sadat a treachery to Islam and
Muslims and the Arab brothers and supports the political stances taken by
countries in opposing this Accord.

May God’s peace and mercy be upon you all.
