The American reporter who had interviewed Imam Khomeini passed away

Mike Wallace, the CBS journalist who had interviewed Imam Khomeini after the victory of Iran’s Islamic Republic, died in the age of 93.

According to a report by Reuters, Wallace who passed away on Saturday is known for being an affective man in the field of TV news media through the United States and the world, and his “60 Minutes” which started to air from 1968 with its challengeable questions was among the most famous news programs in the United States.

According to this report, he has interviewed all the Presidents of the United States after John F. Kennedy except for George Bush Jr.

In his professional career he has arranged and done 800 reports and interviews with famous figures like “Deng Xiaoping” the former President of China, “Martin Luther King” and “Malcolm X” former leaders of the Black movements in the United States and “Yaser Arafat” leader of the PLO.

Wallace describes his interview with Imam Khomeini as one of his most important interviews during his professional career.

Wallace who had done this interview after the takeover of the American spy den in Tehran, once in CNN’s program “Larry King Live” had said: “When the leader of Iran accepted the interview request in such time I was surprised.”

Mike Wallace added: “Usually when the first levels of world figures are in front of the experienced reporters and their camera, they become nervous, but it wasn’t like this about the Iranian leader and there was no sign of being nervous on his face.”
