Imam Khomeini:
“The Birthday of Hadrat Zahra is the Day of All Women”

Today is the birthday anniversary of Hadrat Zahra. Today is the day of women's victory, and the day of the exemplary woman in the world. Women play a great role in the society. Women are the manifestations the realization of mankind's desires. Women are those who bring up the great men and women. From women's training, men can reach higher intellectual levels. The women are those who train great men and women. Today is a great day, a day in which a great woman came to the world who is equal to all men. A woman came to the world who is an exemplary human. A woman came to the world who is the entire manifestation of humane identity. So, today is a great day. Today is the day of all women.

What Imam Thought about the Importance & Honour of Motherhood
You ladies have the honour of being mothers, which puts you ahead of the men. You have the responsibility for training children in your laps. The mother’s lap is the first school a child has. A good mother brings up a good child, but, God forbid, if the mother is misguided, the child brought up in her lap will also be misguided. For children have a particular affection for their mothers, which they have for no one else, and when in their laps, all they wish for they find in their mothers, she is their everything. What she says, how she acts, her nature, all have an effect on a child. When the child is in his mother’s lap, which is his first class, if he is taught virtuousness, morality, goodness, he will grow up with a good nature, with that purity of spirit and goodness of deed that has been nurtured in him. While in her lap, the child will begin to imitate his mother, so that if he sees she is good-natured, her words and actions kind and good, he too will behave likewise. For his mother is the one he patterns himself on, and what she instils into him will prove his most effective training.

Imam Khomeini's Speeches
Regarding the Role & Position of Women

Women in Islam

The Status of & Esteem for Women in Islam in
Imam Khomeini's Thought

Islam grants woman a say in all affairs, just as it grants man a say. Just as men should avoid corruption, so too should women. Women should not allow themselves to be playthings in the hands of dissolute youths, they should not lower their station and, God forbid, come out into the streets dressed up and made up, placing themselves in full view of depraved men. Women must act like true human beings; they must be pious. Women enjoy a dignified position; they have free will, just as men have. God created you free beings and gave you dignity.

1 February 1980 (12 Bahman 1358 AHS)

Islam has particular regard for women. Islam appeared in the Arabian Peninsula at a time when women had lost their dignity, and it raised them up and gave them back their pride. Islam made women equal with men; in fact, it shows a concern for women that it does not show for men.

Virtues of Hadrat Zahra(s.a)

Fatima (s.a) in Literature

I wished to say, 'Fatima (s.a.) is the daughter of the great Khadijah.' I sensed it is not Fatima (s.a.). I wished to say, 'Fatima (s.a.) is the daughter of Mohammad (s.a.).’ I sensed it is not Fatima (s.a.). I wished to say, 'Fatima (s.a.) is the wife of Ali (a.s.).’ I sensed it is not Fatima (s.a.). I wished to say, 'Fatimah is the mother of Hassan (a.s.) and Hussein (a.s.).’ I sensed it is not Fatima (s.a.). I wished to say, 'Fatima (s.a.) is the mother of Zaynab.' I still sensed it is not Fatima (s.a.).
No, these are all true and none of them are Fatima (s.a.).
