The Greatest Nights

Among the nights of Ramadan is one special night, which is better than a thousand months (The Holy Quran, 97:3). Good deeds performed on that single night are equal to those performed over a thousand months. It is the Night of Power (Laylatul Qadr), when the Qur'an was revealed. Some commentators believe it was the night when the Qur'an was brought down from Heavenly abode, for Gabriel to reveal in parts to the Prophet (s.a.). Others say it was the night when the Prophet received the entire Qur'an, but was asked to transmit it as and when the occasion demanded. Also on 21st of this holy month Imam Ali (a.s.) was martyred, by an assassin who mortally wounded the Holy Imam with a poisoned sword in the Mosque of Kufah during morning prayers on 19th of Ramadan 40 A.H.
The Martyrdom of Imam Ali (a.s.)
"And do not speak of those who are slain in the Way of Allah as dead; nay, they are alive, but you perceive not." (THE HOLY Quran 2:154) Imam Ali (a.s.) was martyred on 21st Ramadan 40 A.H. by an assassin who mortally wounded the Holy Imam with a poisoned sword in the Mosque of Kufah during morning prayers on 19th Ramadan. Imam Ali (a.s.), the First Muslim, an intimate associate of the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.a.) in the life and holy Islamic mission, the Immediate Successor to the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.a.) and the First Holy Immaculate Imam of the Shi'ites in the World was born inside the Holy Kaaba in Mecca on Friday, the 13th day of Rajab, 600 A.D. Imam Ali (a.s.) is the only unique personality in the world who was born in the Holy Kaaba and was martyred in the Kufah Mosque and was buried in the holy city of Najaf (Iraq). Regarding the divine right of Imam Ali (a.s.) the Holy Prophet of Islam (s.a.) declared:
"Whomsoever I have authority over; Ali (a.s.) has also authority over him, O Allah! Befriend whoever befriend him and be hostile to whosoever is hostile to him".
The Secret of
Imam Ali's Force of Attraction
What is the reason for the friendship and love for Ali in people's hearts? Nobody has yet discovered the secret of this love. That is, no one has been able to formulate it, and say that if it was like this then that would follow, or if it were like that then this would happen. However it does of course have a secret.
There is something in the love which dazzles the one who loves and draws him towards it. This attraction and love are the highest degrees of love; Ali is the one whom people's hearts adore, whom humanity loves. Why? In what does Ali's extraordinariness lie, that it incites love and draws hearts towards itself, that it plays the tune of eternal life and lives forever? Why do all hearts find out about themselves through him, and do not feel him to be dead but find him living?

Literal Meaning of
‘Qadr’
