Millions of Iranian mark Nature Day

Millions of people from across Iran are marking the 13th day of Farvardin as Nature Day, ending on the thirteenth day of the first month of the Iranian calendar,

The 13th of the Iranian month of Farvardin is celebrated as Day of Nature and on this day most Iranians have a tradition of spending the day outdoors.  

The day is also considered as climax of Nowruz and  It is a tradition amongst the Iranian people to enjoy the fresh spring air of this day before ending the annual fortnightly holidays of the New Year.  

On this day Iranian people enjoy the final day of their New Year holidays in the woods, mountains or along streams and rivers

Nowruz, which marks the advent of the spring and beginning of the new Persian Year, is also among the festivals celebrated in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, northern Iraq, Azerbaijan, and other neighboring countries. 

In recent years, the day has also become more significant form perspectives of protecting nature and shielding environment. 

It is mention to worthy that spring is of great significance in Islamic sources such as Quran and Sunnah as it has been described the season of rebirth for plants, and has been mentioned as an evidence for the day of resurrection. 

Imam Khomeini, the world spiritual and religious leader, sought to revive the spiritual aspects of Nowruz. 

The founder of the Islamic Republic recommended to recite the Quranic chapters and supplications by infallible Imams during these times of significance. 

Imam maintained that mankind should also spiritually transformed themselves during the Nowruz and seek to start a new beginning with intention of promote divine and moral values.
