Iran stresses need for uprooting terrorism

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic though his historic messages and works stressed the need to confront and eradicate terrorism.

Imam frequently opposed all types of violence and terrorist groups which were plaguing the Islamic societies.

Imam believed that terrorists groups such as MKO were playing into hands of the colonial and exploiting powers to harm the Islamic societies.

Following the footsteps of Imam Khomeini, the Iranian officials have made their top priority to confront terrorism

In recent years, Iran has extended its help for neighboring countries such as Iraq and Syria who are confronting Takfiri Daesh terrorists and al-Qaeda linked militants. The militants are wreaking havoc across Iraq, Syria, Libya and some other courtiers and continue to pose threat to international peace and security.

Iranian President Rouhani has campaigned for a World Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE) which was approved by the United Nations’ General Assembly in December 2013.

In his most recent effort to confront terrorism, President Rouhani has said that the reinforcement of unity among Iraqis of all faiths and ethnicities will certainly uproot terrorism in the country.

President Rouhani made remarks during a recent meeting with visiting Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al-Jabouri in the Iranian capital Tehran.

The Iranian president also said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to stand by the Iraqi nation and government until the end of their battle against terrorism. He also praised the recent victories of the Iraqi army and volunteers forces against terrorist groups such as Takfiri Daesh terrorists.

Rouhani further stressed that increasing consultations between Tehran and Bagdad has been vital for promoting stability and peace in strategically important region of the Middle East.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian president noted that the Iraqi parliament is a symbol of fraternity and unity and among Iraqis of all faiths and ethnicities.

It can boost national unity by taking on an integrated role in the fight against terrorism, the president pointed out.

the Iranian president also voiced concern that some regional  countries have been influenced by different factors, such as the Zionists.  “Unfortunately, some countries in the region are influenced by different factors, such as the Zionists, and are following a wrong path. This is while people want all these countries to struggle for the region’s development and prosperity side by side.”

The Iraqi parliament speaker, for his part, said that Iran and Iraq must strengthen cooperation and make efforts to establish peace and security in Iraq and across the region.

Jabouri added that the settlement of regional problems hinges on cooperation and unity among all countries.

He said Iran has always supported the Iraqi government and people in the campaign against terrorism and played a significant role in this regard.

Iran has been supporting Iraq in its fight against Daesh Takfiri terrorists. On August 10, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi hailed the presence of Iranian military advisors in the country’s battle against Daesh terrorists and said the Iranian advisors are present in Iraq at Baghdad’s request.

The northern and western parts of Iraq have been plagued by gruesome violence ever since Takfiri Daesh terrorists mounted an offensive in June 2014. The Iraqi armies backed by volunteers from the Popular Mobilization Units have been engaged in joint operations to retake militant-held regions.

It is mention to worthy that Iran president and other senior officials have repeatedly urged Muslim leaders to work to counter extremism
