Israel’s nukes pose threat to world peace

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman says Israel's atomic weapons arsenal represents the biggest threat to the world peace.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemialso dismissed new allegations by Israeli and US leaders against Iran's peaceful nuclear energy program as "hollow" and "worthless".

"The statements did not contain any new point except being a repetition of hollow and worthless allegations against Iran's peaceful nuclear program," the Iranian diplomat said, adding,  "The bitter truth is that these remarks and inadmissible allegations are repeated by a regime which is not committed to any international law and convention and has hundreds of warheads in its atomic arsenal."

"Such claims are repeated while the International Atomic Energy Agency, in its reports, has time and again confirmed Iran's nuclear program as peaceful - a fact which has been verified many times by different countries." Qassemi stressed,

Israel, Qassemi said, "is viewed as the biggest threat to peace and security in the Middle East and the world and its ponderous file of endless atrocities and inhuman actions against the oppressed Palestinian people and other neighbors is recorded in numerous UN reports."

The reaction came after President Donald Trump called Iran's peaceful nuclear program a threat to Israel during a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Anti-Iran rhetoric by Trump and Netanyahu come as the longstanding Western dispute over Tehran's nuclear program was settled after the conclusion of a landmark nuclear agreement in 2015.

United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2231 also endorsed the nuclear deal, which went into effect in January 2016.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has also confirmed Iran's commitment to the terms of the nuclear agreement, dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Iran’s activities are exclusively for peaceful purposes such as power generation.

Israel, which is widely believed to possess between 200 to 400 nuclear warheads, is a non-signatory to the NPT and continues to defy international calls to join the treaty.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic thorough his historic speeches and messages urged Muslims to form united front in order to counter Israeli occupational agenda in the strategic region of Middle East.

Imam also warned about conspiracies and plots being hatched by the Tel Aviv regime against Palestinians and other Muslim nations.
