Religious issues must be presented in practical manner: Dr. Komsari

Dr. Ali Komsari, the head of the institute for compilation and publication for Imam Khomeini’s works has stressed the need for religious issues to be presented in a technical and practical way.

In a recent speech delivered to personnel of the institute, the scholar said that it had been his constant regret that religious and moral issues or educational teachings are not presented with specific methods in a technical and practical way.

In Today’s psychology, instructions are very clear and practical, he said, adding, for instance, the experts in this regard have specific guidelines for treating depression.

He further pointed out that our preachers, writers and scholars do not present the teachings and guideline in practical manner.

“Although our religious instructions are perfect and complete, yet they are unfortunately presented in general terms and not in form of applicable packages,” Komsari stated.

He insisted that religious instructions were not mere advice and had practical perspectives.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Hojjat al-Islam Komsari said explained the spiritual benefits of the blessed fasting month of Ramadan.

Discourse of Imam Khomeini’s ideals: Historical document of our identity in contemporary history

In the Sh’abaniah sermon, the holy prophet of Islam paints a beautiful picture of the holy month of Ramadan, and presents practical and useful aspects which are spiritually very useful and beneficial.

Quoting to the first part of the famous sermon, Dr Komsari explained as following:

Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, O People! The month of Allah (Ramadhan) has approached you with His mercy and blessings. This is the month that is the best of all months in the estimation of Allah. Its days are the best among the days; its nights are the best among the nights. Its hours are the best among the hours.

This is a month in which he has invited you. You have been, in this month, selected as the recipients of the honors of Allah, the Merciful. In this holy month, when you breathe, it has the Sawab/thawab (heavenly reward) of 'Tasbeeh' (the praise of Allah on rosary beads), and your sleep has the thawab of worship.

Your good deeds are accepted this month. So are your invocations. Therefore, you must invoke your Lord, in right earnest, with hearts that are free from sins and evils, that Allah may bless you, observe fast, in this month, and recite the Holy Quran.
