Imam Khomeini Effectively Countered Islamophobia

Imam Khomeini the spiritual and religious leader of the world effectively countered the anti-Islamic propaganda and corrected the tarnished image of the Muslim societies being promoted among the western and some other non-Islamic states.

Imam undertook serious efforts to remove misconceptions being propagated surrounding the religion of Islam and the Muslim community and countries.

The founder of the Islamic Republic introduced the real and genuine teachings and true friendly face of Islam. He introduced the Islam as a peace-loving religion and the Muslim as a peaceful nation.

The guidelines issued by Imam were observed by high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic throughout their domestic and international policies over the past years.

In recent days, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has described Islamophobia as an
obstacle to expansion of ties between the Muslim and non-Muslim states, calling for strategies to counter the sinister phenomenon.

Rouhani made the remarks in a Wednesday meeting with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu on the sidelines of the 68th annual session of the UN General Assembly
in New York.

“Islamophobia has created problems for relations between the Islamic world and other countries,” Rouhani said.

The great Imam also strongly condemned any type of animosity being practiced by certain hostile powers and advised them to understand the true peace-loving face of Islam and its true teachings. Imam also stressed importance of the unity among the Muslim societies and nations.

The Iranian president underlined the significant role of the OIC in tightening the ranks of Muslim countries and defending Islamic thoughts in today’s world.

In line with the Islamic Republic policy, the Iranian chief executive Dr. Rouhani also expressed Tehran’s readiness for further expansion of bilateral ties with the OIC in various areas.

The OIC chief, for his part, praised Iran’s growing relations with the Muslim organization, expressing hope for further cooperation among the OIC member states.

The two sides also stressed the need for strengthening unity in the Muslim world and removing misconceptions surrounding the religion of Islam.

The OIC, which was established in 1969, is the second-largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations and has 57 member states spread over four continents. The body also has a permanent delegation to the UN.

The great Imam in his messages and speeches had underlined the decisive role the OIC could play as a representative of the Muslim nations.

Analysts believe that the Muslim can achieve real objectives and status on the international stage if they pursue the guidelines by the matchless leadership of Imam.
