Pilgrims visiting the Cave of Hira

Even though they have to endure difficulties, some pilgrims still visit the Cave of Hira, where the Qur'an was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (saw).

In order to pray in the same place the Prophet (saw) prayed and to get a sense of the spirituality that existed at the time of Prophet Muhammad (saw), many pilgrims visited the Cave of Hera this year. The cave of Hera is where the first verses of the holy Qur’an were revealed to the messenger of Islam. However Saudi officials have not taken care of this cave and it is difficult to visit as the journey to the cave has many ups and downs and can be quite dangerous. Furthermore there are Saudi officials in place preventing people from praying in this sacred cave. Asma Muhammad, who was one of the pilgrims who visited this cave, said: “This is a holy place, and I tried very hard to get here, and the effort I put in to get here is very valuable to me. I feel that I have become closer to the Prophet (saw) by following his steps”(Quoted from Mehr News site)
