Imam Hussain’s main reason to his movement was to realize the most important Islamic virtue “Enjoining good and prohibiting Evil”, his holiness said: “Truly I made this movement only to reform the government and to perform the Islamic principals in the society as did my grandfather and Imam Ali (PBUH)”.
After studying the root causes of the Islamic revolution’s formation, we notice that the people’s main goal was putting an end to the cruelty and establishing a government based on the divine justice and officials who respect the Islamic virtues and stopping the dependency upon the arrogant powers.
As did Yazid, the Pahlavi dynasty was trying to ignore and disrespect the Islamic laws and virtues which triggered the Iranian Muslims uprising against the tyranny. The Iranians had been successful to establish a pure Islamic government under the leadership of Imam Khomeini.
In this regard, Imam Khomeini once said:
His Holiness the Doyen of the Martyrs (s) taught all of us what we must do in the face of oppression, in the face of injustice; in the face of tyrannical rulers.

Many of the Muslim scholars believed that Imam Hussain’s main concern was to establish an Islamic government.
The essence of the life of the Doyen of the Martyrs, the Imam of the Time may God's peace be upon him (and all prophets in the world the Adam up to now were associated with this mentality. They struggled to establish the rule of justice vis-a-vis oppression.

So that is the reason for the revolutionists’ slogan: “Our movement is like the Hussain’s, our leader is Khomeini”
