Hujjat-ul-Islam Haj Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini’s

Message to Those Who Loved the Imam

“In the name of Allah , the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.”
“Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return.” [Quran, 2:156] “O reassured soul, Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him], and enter among My [righteous] servants, and enter My Paradise.”[Quran, 89:27-30]
The elevated soul of the Imam of Muslims and leader of the liberals of the world Imam Khomeini attached to the topmost heaven, and his heart, abundant in love of God and His righteous servants, stopped functioning, but the heart of his devotees will throb nonstop until Doomsday and the sun of his leadership will shine on the earth and its inhabitants more luminously than ever. O, God! If Thy lover servant has now flown toward Thy divine kingdom, and if the love-induced stormy state of his sea-like heart has calmed after reaching the shore of Thy closeness, but Thee know that such a great loss is a storm in all our hearts as the loss of the holy Prophet of Islam, leaving not only us, but all Muslims around the world grieving.

At the end I deliver my condolences to Imam Mahdi and the great and brave nation of Iran and all the Muslims and the oppressed people of the world and I ask God almighty to help us all in defending the great thoughts of Imam and continuing his path.

The Final Years of Imam Khomeini’s Life

Imam Khomeini’s kin have recorded in their memoirs, accounts of the conditions and states of mind and soul in which the Imam was during his last years of life. Their accounts show that His Holiness, the Imam seemed to have realized that the moment of joining the Beloved was at hand. Aside from the Imam’s mystical or agnostically states during these last years, his messages and sermons, and his political positions and attitudes, had such qualities that made them quite distinct from those of the past.

Imam Khomeini's Heavenly Departure

Imam Khomeini had informed all the things, intentions and purposes he wanted to present. He also put al his efforts and life in practice to achieve his goals. Now in the middle of Khordad 1368 (June 1989), he prepares himself to see one who he yielded to attract, his satisfaction in all his lifetime. He bowed nobody and cried for none except his beloved. All his mystical poems were an indication of separation from the loved and yielding to remove the thirst for uniting with the beloved. Now this was the glorious time for him and an intolerable time for his disciples. The time of separation from the material world was Saturday at 22:30 p.m. June 3rd 1989 (13th of Khordad 1368).

Imam Khomeini's
Literary Works & Compilations

Imam Khomeini had penned scores of books on ethics, mysticism, jurisprudence, principles, politics and social issues, many of which have been already published. Unfortunately, a number of most valuable treatises of the Imam have been lost in the process of changing rented homes, and by Savak agents’ raids on his home and library.

Imam Khomeini wrote in an elegant hand. He observed traditional rules, the order of writing, summarization, and avoidance of verbosity. The fluent prose, use of literary arts, charming composition and innovations in the political and religious messages of the Imam, formed a basis for evolution in Iranian religious and political literature. Already the effect of particular terminology and composition used by the Imam have entered into new Farsi literary texts, even in the ordinary spoken language of the people. Some of Imam Khomeini’s works such as jurisprudence and mysticism are in Arabic language; others are in Farsi.

Memories

Everything in Its Place

One of Imam Khomeini's relatives quotes:
Sometimes we went to Imam Khomeini's home. Although Imam Khomeini's room was full of notes, books, and papers, Imam Khomeini could quickly find a note he wanted at the moment in all the mess. Since all the books and papers were placed in their right order.

The Model of Perseverance

One of Imam Khomeini's disciples quoted:
Imam Khomeini's perseverance was in such manner that despite his old age, nobody could claim to see him wasting his time even for one minute. In the time we were in Imam Khomeini's service, we witnessed that in his life, there is nothing named as free time in people and Islam's affair. For Imam Khomeini, there was no distinction between summer and winter, or a holiday and other days. He always studied or prayed or read the papers came to him.

Avoiding Squandering

Once Imam Khomeini told to one of his friends," pass me my glasses, please. I want to study". When I took his glasses from the table, I saw the dust over them. I took a Kleenex and cleaned the glasses and gave it to Imam Khomeini. When I decided to throw the Kleenex away, Imam Khomeini observed and said, "If you do not need that Kleenex, please gave it to me. I can use it for other purposes. It should not be thrown away".

Nobly Indulgence & Mercy

During Imam Khomeini's lifetime, there were some people vilifying and insulting him and then became regretful and asked Imam Khomeini to forgive them via letters. All these issues were made clear to Imam Khomeini and he stated, "I forgive them". Imam Khomeini also some times prayed on them. For instance, once an Arab Muslim wrote a letter to Imam Khomeini from America and said, "I commit a sin by insulting you and this sin always disturbs me as a terrible nightmare". He pleadingly asked Imam Khomeini to forgive him. Imam Khomeini read the letter and with a soulful tone said, "I forgive him".

Imam Khomeini's Simple Living

While being in Najaf, Imam Khomeini lived in a simple small rentable house. After the Islamic revolution victory, (both in Tehran and Qom), he lived in a rentable house like most of the Weak. The small house Imam Khomeini rented in Jamaran, Tehran, had only 120 meters extent and 70 meters square footage. One day a group of foreign reporters came to Imam Khomeini's house in Jamarn, one of which was an American young man. He was greatly surprised from Imam Khomeini's life condition. He saw all the things in his own eyes and again could not believe this situation. He eagerly seeks a person to ask some questions until he encountered me (one of Imam Khomeini's relatives). In his wonder, he asked me, "is it really Imam Khomeini's house?" When I answered him, his wonder multiplied. Then I mentioned a point, which did not, came to his mind until that time, "honestly, Imam Khomeini does not own this house. Imam Khomeini has rented it". He was extremely surprised and shed tears for Imam Khomeini. He was influenced as though there was opened a new horizon in his front.

The Close Association with Quran

One of the permanent programs of Imam Khomeini, which had a special order and regularity, was reciting the noble Quran. He always in special time in day engaged in reciting. He did it eight times in a day. In these times, he did not speak with anyone and did not accept a person to his room. Imam Khomeini with all his problems and engagements could at least end reciting the entire Quran one in every ten days.

Avoiding Pretension & Hypocrisy

Imam Khomeini in the first editions of his book " Kashf Al-Asrar", did not allow the publishers to write his name on the cover of the book. He justified this action in this way, "I wrote this book for the sake of God's satisfaction, not for my own fame".

Tied to the on Time Prayer & Performing the Recommended Deeds

When the Islamic leaders of other countries came to Imam Khomeini to talk about peace between Iran and Iraq, Imam Khomeini heard the sound of Izan and stood up to go for his prayer and stated, "I want to say my prayer. Since he believed in the on time prayer and the scenting, he hinted to one of his friends in the meeting to bring him the perfume. After perfuming, he stood for prayer.
