Iran’s president stresses campaign against terrorism

The Iranian president during the meeting with Afghanistan's Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Tehran has described terrorism as a menace to the entire world.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underscored the need for a campaign and fight against terrorism.

The president went onto say that that the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue to stand by Afghanistan. He pledged that Iran will spare no effort to assist the Afghan government and nation.

The political stability, security and national unity could lay the groundwork for Afghanistan’s prosperity and development, the Iranian president stressed.

Elsewhere in his remarks, President Rouhani expressed hope that joint projects will be implemented as soon as possible with the strengthening of political stability in Afghanistan.

The Afghan chief executive, for his part, welcomed further development of ties with Iran in different fields and praised Iran’s support for his country.

The senior Afghan official arrived in the Iranian capital to attend a memorial ceremony for Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the late chairman of Iran’s Expediency Council who passed away on Sunday.

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic through his historic speeches and messages frequently denounced the occupation of Afghanistan by colonial forces. Imam appealed the Muslim world to take steps to solve the crisis facing the Afghan people.
